Review rules

Who can review, what a review may say, and how replies, votes, reports and disputes work.

Reviews help people choose who to work with. These rules keep them useful and fair to everyone.

Who can write a review

  • You need a NaijaAgents account with a confirmed email address or phone number.
  • You can write one review for each agent or agency. You can edit it or delete it at any time.
  • You can't review your own profile, an agency you're a member or owner of, or someone you're paid to promote.

What a review should be

  • About your own experience with that agent or agency: a viewing, a rental, a purchase, a sale, or an enquiry that went well or badly.
  • Specific and honest. Say what happened and when. A short review is fine; a vague one helps no one.
  • Your own words. Don't copy reviews from elsewhere or post on someone else's behalf.

What we remove

  • Personal details: phone numbers, home addresses, account numbers, or anything that identifies a third party.
  • Threats, hate, harassment or sexual content.
  • Reviews that are paid for, swapped, written by the professional or their staff, or posted from several accounts.
  • Content about a different business, or that isn't about the service at all.
  • Advertising or links to other services.

We don't remove a review only because it is negative.

Helpful votes

Signed-in people can mark a review helpful or not helpful. Votes help sort reviews; they don't change the star rating. You can't vote on your own review.

Replies from the professional

The professional can reply once to each review, in public, and edit the reply later. Replies follow the same rules as reviews.

  • On an agent's profile, the agent replies.
  • On an agency's profile, owners and admins reply, plus anyone whose role includes Reply to reviews. The reply shows as the agency, not the person.
  • Disputes work the same way: the agent, or agency members whose role includes Dispute reviews.

Reports and disputes

  • Anyone signed in can report a review that breaks these rules.
  • The agent, or an agency member allowed to, can dispute a review: choose a reason and explain what's wrong. The review stays visible, marked as under review, while our team looks.
  • We may ask the reviewer or the owner for evidence, such as messages or receipts with personal details covered.
  • If a review breaks these rules, we remove it and tell both people. If it doesn't, it stays up and the mark is removed.

A review is not a check

Reviews are opinions from people with a confirmed email or phone. We don't verify every claim in them. Before paying anyone, inspect the property, have a lawyer check the documents and confirm the payment details.
