Privacy policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains how NaijaAgents handles personal information, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. If you have a question or want to use your rights, email support@naijaagents.app.
1. What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash) or Google sign-in, and your settings.
- Profiles: what professionals publish, such as name, photo, phone number, services, areas and business details.
- Requests: the name, email, phone number and message you send a professional.
- Checks: phone confirmations, and for identity or business checks, the details and documents you submit.
- Reviews, reports and claims: what you write and any documents you upload.
- Payments: plan, invoice and receipt records. Card details go to Paystack or Bachs; we never see or store them.
- Usage: counts of profile views, number reveals, chats and requests. We count views with a temporary, salted code of your connection, not a cookie, and keep no record of who you are. Approximate region is recorded only if you accepted analytics.
- Security: sign-in sessions, and short-lived records used to stop abuse such as too many requests from one connection.
2. Why we use it
- To run the directory and your account, deliver requests to professionals and show you your enquiries (to provide the service you asked for)
- To check details professionals ask us to check, and to deal with claims, reports and disputes (legitimate interest in a trustworthy directory)
- To take payments, keep invoices and meet tax and accounting duties (contract and legal obligation)
- To send emails about your account, requests, reviews, payments and decisions we make (to provide the service)
- To keep NaijaAgents secure and stop fraud and spam (legitimate interest)
- To understand which pages people use, only with your consent
4. How long we keep it
- Account and profile information: until you delete your account or profile.
- Claim documents: deleted once the claim is decided.
- Identity and business check documents: deleted with the account or agency they belong to.
- Requests and leads: as long as the professional's workspace exists, so they can follow up.
- Invoices, receipts and payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after an account is deleted.
- Abuse-prevention records: a short time, then discarded.
5. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, to move it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Change your analytics choice in Settings › Preferences, and delete your account in Settings › Profile.
Email support@naijaagents.app to use any of these rights. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
6. Security
Information is encrypted in transit, private documents are kept in storage only our systems can reach, and staff access is limited by role and logged. Use a strong password, or turn on two-factor sign-in in Settings › Security & access.
7. Children
NaijaAgents is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes
We'll update this policy when what we do changes, and tell you by email or in the app if the change matters. Our cookie policy explains the cookies we use.
